Enough of the founders stories, Let's move forward.

Chale chale....enough of all this Nkrumah and Ghana Founding fathers debate. How does debating over Nkrumah reduce the price of fuel?

We love holding on to old things too much! The past is gone. Let's work together today and build our tomorrow.

I am not saying we shouldn't remember our history. History is good. But leaving for today is better. And planning for the future is the best!

How many times did we see or hear Americans debating about the role of George Washington and Co or Abraham Lincoln?

When you buy a Samsung Phone, TV or Fridge do you think about Sygman Rhee?

Have you heard the Germans cry over the role of Otto von Bismarck in their history before producing the Benz you love driving?

When you decide to choose the English Education over the Ghanaian system, did you for a second pause to think about Pytheas of Massalia?

But when you come to Ghana.....everyday Nkrumah this, Danquah that....Yaa Asantewaa this!

Always hanging and doting over the past. Go to Lorry Stations...you will see GPRTU "Book Men" always reminiscing their old days of driving Benz. But they don't have foko! We love celebrating the past at the expense of today and tomorrow.

Fellow Ghanaians as you chew chicken, pork or drink sobolo today to celebrate Nkrumah...pause for a sec and think about your current status and the future of contributing your quota to making our Nation greater and stronger!

Happy something something !

Should the Education Ministry allow students in SHS to use mobile phones in school in Ghana?

This is a very sensitive topic, I am one of the few people who think SHS students should use mobile phones in school. The barn on mobile phones is one thing that shows that we as a society sees technology or mobile phones as a 'toy' or playing material instead of a tool for communication and exploration.

Smart phones are high end mobile phones which combine the features of personal digital assistants (PDAs) and mobile phones creating a powerful, portable communication tool. They carry a variety of features within a small, often light weight frame. They however vary in size, colour, style and features as many manufacturers seek to remain on par with and even surpass the technology of their competitors.

Students learn in a way they are comfortable.
There is a widespread use of smartphones by younger children. More and more students know how to use them and they are becoming the most used 'tool' by children.

Students are able to get answers quickly. Smartphones provide the ability to get answers quickly. A student may not ask for clarification to a question he or she has in an open classroom hence the use of a smartphone in a classroom setting can provide those answers.

Audio and video can bring learning to life within the classroom.
The audio and video capabilities of smartphones can bring learning to life within the classroom. This can be done through video images, music and voice. In addition, students can even be allow to connect with other students from around the world, hence expanding their learning world.

The use of the smartphones allows for social learning.
Smartphones can allow students to work in groups on projects, sharing information and discoveries. Therefore, the students can move toward a common goal, in a format they are comfortable using.

The majority of students in our country are currently using smartphones as the preferred method of communication. Although the rules at our schools specifically state that cell phones should not be in schools, it is quite obvious that this would require constant monitoring, therefore, it would be more advantageous to utilise these smartphones in teaching.
As a country we mostly focus more on the disadvantages so we sometimes refuse to see the opportunities in something new.

I answered this on quora and felt like reposting it here
