Story Board: Tinkering with corporate world.

If at your earliest 20s you have had some little taste of small success at the startup world, you will never be interested or happy at any corporate job unless you a boss over there.

In January this year, I was having a conversation with her(don't ask me who...) and she was like why don't you just write these people letters and attache your CV to the email. This suggestion came after I told her I would wish to work in an ad company for my national service. People, I'm gradually falling in love with digital ads and branding.

OK so that night I wrote one simple cover letter(one I will describe a crazy one) for my CV telling all 5 companies that I sent  my application that I'm a young innovative young guy who can transform their companies and I attached links to my website and stuff I have created.

4 of 5 of the companies have contacted me so far and I have tried two of them and I think I have learnt all I can to startup something huge right after college. I have learnt that the average ceo or managing director doesn't care about you, yes they don't . If you leave they'll replace you and they will always pay you less of the amount you deserve. They don't care about your dreams and the wish you never had one. Someone told me if I'm loyal to him for 8 years I can buy myself a car after 8 years, yes 8 years. "He was talking to the wrong person" I said, personally by age 30 my dream is not to have a car my dream is by 30 years I should be best in something, I should put a dent in the universe.

"The corporate world is not designed for your freedom"

This is what I said one day of hard coding and serious graphic design work. Your boss only cares about the work input and output and how he will look good in front of management of the startup.

There's no personal freedom and the only days you have for free is Saturday and Sunday. Truth is you will be tired on Saturdays and Sundays and you still wouldn't be able to freshen up fully for Monday and the most painful of all is 8-5  he doesn't care when you slept, all that is important to him is his  work output.

The Adult world is not for those  who want to be creative,  you won't be given the chance to be creative.

Skills

I think one thing that shows its not a matter of no jobs but its a matter skillset, it is skills! It attracts the employer! One of them said at 22 and you already created 3 startups? I think your stuff shows you the type of guy we need here. Although we not employing I want you here.

Certs.
We are all often tricked by the certs that i hold a Bsc in this or a BA so I'm qualified. Eii really what skills do you have. Do you even know how to use the office suit software(word, excel, ppt)? Are you innovative enough? What shows?

Why I'm quiting: I think I'm more creative than my boss. It's like he doesn't have an eye for good design and it's  scary for my design future. I'm not insulting him I respect his struggle to be the boss of me, I think I will loose a lot of time to  make an impact if I follow the normal trend of searching for job after school. "Chale time nor dey" and I can only make mistakes and take risks at this young age.

Story Board: day of failed deals

This is the first post for story board. And story is just a state of mind towards the evangelism programme bible distribution in July. The whole behind the scene story. And something like a personal diary. I actually don't know what it is.

Day of failed deals:
I feel like it was a bad day went to work (pitch media) to meet a schedule of 12 difficult designs, opened my WhatsApp to meet messages from clients who have their website down and finally a message from the bank relating to a bounced cheque.

And I was like really its just 9am and its this how the day will go?

I said a short prayer and asked God for guidance. And I started making calls most of the replies were not favorable and some of my clients were giving me supper normal pressure.

Things were getting worse, I didn't know how to fix them.

I then saw a message from Willy (Ebo) that when I am less busy I should call. I any call from him means we need to innovate. I am tight now and I have to do God's work. And how do I do it well when my mind is filled a lot to fix?

So this is a background story to  this today's main issue how to deal with a bad day.

1. Remember God’s presence.
"My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest." (Exodus 33:14 )
Even after a trying day, God will quiet your soul as you remember His presence and intentionally seek to enter into it. Remember He’s with you. Invite Him to make Himself present to you.
2. Respond to Him with thanks.
“Those who sacrifice thank offerings honor me.” (Psalm 50:23 )
Giving thanks gives God glory and helps us look on the bright side of a bad day. What small blessings can you thank God for?
3. Reflect on how God showed Himself to you.
“For God does speak--now one way, now another-- though no one perceives it…” (Job 33:14 )
God reveals himself through scripture, but we also see glimpses of him in nature, events, and people. Sometimes He shows up loudly through miraculous, divine intervention. Other times He shows Himself quietly through the beauty of a flower or an earnest conversation. During my bad travel day, God showed me His mercy through the kindness of an airline attendant. As you look back over your day, can you identify moments where you sensed God’s revelation or intervention?
4. Repent of your failings.
“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” (Acts 3:19 )
I don’t like recognizing my own sin, but repentance is key to continual renewal in our relationship with God. We fail God every day, but bad days have a way of making sin spew out of us. We vent our frustrations. We fret and worry instead of trusting. We open the door to addiction. In the heat of a difficult moment, we react in anger. (You should have heard my husband and I bickering as we went through our suitcases at the airport.)
As you reflect on your day, remember specific points where you failed. Bring your shortcomings before God and ask Him to forgive you.
5. Resolve to grow.
“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6 )
God is in the business of changing us, so don’t let your failings discourage or define you. His mercies are always new. Accept His forgiveness. Ask Him for grace to change. Is there anything you need to make right or anyone you need to apologize to? What can you do differently tomorrow?
Bad days don’t have to undo us.
We can make even a bad day better when we look for glimpses of God and ways to grow.
