What C.S. Lewis and Martin Luther Would Say About Our Coronavirus Panic

What Martin Luther said during the bubonic plague. “The 16th-century theologian Martin Luther had this to say during the bubonic plague, offering his thoughts in a letter titled "Whether One May Flee From a Deadly Plague" on how best to practically and spiritually overcome: You ought to think this way: "Very well, by God's decree, the enemy has sent us poison and deadly offal. Therefore, I shall ask God mercifully to protect us. Then I shall fumigate, help purify the air, administer medicine, and take it.  I shall avoid places and persons where my presence is not needed in order not to become contaminated and thus perchance infect and pollute others, and so cause their death as a result of my negligence. If God should wish to take me, he will surely find me and I have done what he has expected of me and so I am not responsible for either my own death or the death of others. If my neighbor needs me, however, I shall not avoid place or person, but will go freely."...

I feel Like Writing: The State of my PCG

Asem a yekura muyi,y3 Yesu Kristo de   I am a life-member of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana. I identify with the theology of the reformed tradition which the church is based on after reading a lot about Martin Luther and the 95 theses. The tradition is identified with the characteristics of “always being reformed”. The Latin slogan “Ecclesia reformata, semper reformanda” which translates as “The Church reformed and always to be reformed” places importance on the church's need to seek constant renewal. The church is always in need of improvement, we must never cease learning with relevance and sensitivity in response to changing realities. Implicit in the Presbyterian understanding of the church is  dissatisfaction with the status quo . If this is the basic foundation of the church, then the big question is what went wrong? Why does the church today seem to be so satisfied with the status quo? There are a couple of issues that, I think, the church needs to l...

Reformation Day: To those who don't know about the reformation, this is why some of us are excited about it

Image
Last Sunday was Reformation Sunday and I was so excited about, I posted videos and images on my social media to mark it, but some people asked me why I'm soo into this whole reformation thing, is it because of Luther? Or you're a Presbyterian or you are soo obsessed with church History now? I keep getting similar questions like this. It took me three days to complete this article about why some of us, young reformers or the new reformed are soo excited about the Reformation. And I am happy to publish it on this very important day in History of the modern Church. 502 years ago today, on 31st October 1517. Martin nailed the 95 theisis to the church door in Wittenberg, Germany. We often hear the story of Martin Luther from a historical point of view, but let’s see what happened spiritually here. Around 30 AD Jesus had given his life and the way was open for every man and woman to come freely to God by confessing their sins. Now those who confessed their sins were later call...

Dear Intern or NSP: Nobody will tell you this

Image
After months of finishing the National service and deliberating whether it is worth publishing, I decided to publish my thoughts on what I claim are truths nobody will tell you when you are starting service or even interning. In the elevator with the Head: HIM: So where are your colleagues? Me: I don't know, sir Him: As for Ike everything you will say "I don't know" but you know things [He Smiled] Me: :) Him: I know you're naturally hardworking that's why you're still here (Time is 5:30PM on the third Friday of July, last month of the national service). Me: I Looked at him and looked down at my shoes (I'm not admiring my sebago shoes dho) Him: If I owned the place like I would employ you. People like you rarely come in contact with public sector. I have really enjoyed working with you. Your dedication and Humility will take you far. It is like you're not doing it for money. You have been Consistent. Me in my head: I work with a...

MY OPEN LETTER TO YOUTH LEADERS IN CHURCHES, CAMPUS FELLOWSHIPS, AND SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS

Image
I've been reading the two books of Timothy over and over and I feel like writing an open letter  to youth leaders in churches, campus fellowships, and social media platforms. “There is no such thing as a great man of God, only weak, pitiful, faithless men of a great and merciful God.”  ―  Paul Washer Dear Leader, I congratulate you for being counted worthy for God's service in this period of your life. You, probably, have heard me say that "leadership is mankind's most daunting task". Hey leader, you deserve special commendations for leading the most complex breed of humans on planet earth — the youths. Understanding the fact that you're leading your peers — a complex and insatiable breed of homo sapiens — puts you in a delicate position, and I appreciate you for making yourself available.    2.  Dear Leader, I have lots of issues in my heart which make me write this open letter to you. I hope to attend to most of them in this letter. Th...

Salvation: I wrote this from my heart

I feel like sharing some good news; I want to tell you something, I have a strong feeling someone needs this message and now is the right time. God's Plan; Peace and life. God loves you and his plan for you is to experience His peace and good life - John 3:16 Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. Man's problem: Sin, Separation. Being at Peace with God is not automatic because man by nature is separated from God because of sin. Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, But there's a solution. God's Remedy - The Cross God's love bridges the gap of separation between God and you. When Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose from the grave, He paid the penalty for our sins 1Peter 2:4 1Pe 2:24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. The only way...
