Thoughts from Juaboso: Truths everyone should accept in life

Image
These are random thoughts I wrote when I was at Juaboso. These journeys have given me new perspective about live, Ghana and people.  Some are truths and some are not;    If you think you just need intelligence to succeed, then this belief will make your life difficult because success only comes to those who also know how to digest failures, criticism, standing alone, painful time, lonely nights, long hours, keep working even when there is  1% chance  of success, that is only achieved by one quality — Resilience. Companies expect 10 years of experience from you while hiring you (completely forget they gave ad for fresh graduate) but while giving you salary they perfectly remember that you are graduate. Stop  labeling  yourself without even trying things. Because, the thing you consider impossible, will only become possible, once you try it. Once you failed in maths — in class 1, that doesn’t mean you’ll fail in maths again in engineering exam. So, stop ...

Basic Christianity (Christianity 101): A Starting Place

Image
I am writing a book and this is one of the reasons I rarely post here these days. This new series will be a chapter in the book. At the request of a few people, I have begun a series examining the basic teachings of Christianity. Consider it something of a “Christianity 101.” The series is intended for two main audiences. The first is people who are not Christians and are seeking to know something about this faith. The second is people who are Christians but may have only a basic knowledge of Christianity. In order to reach these audiences, I have purposely avoided using “Christian lingua” words and phrases and have done my best to avoid using concepts that have not yet been explained. A Starting Place At first I hesitated, thinking that surely there were many, many similar series on the Internet that I could direct people to. I was only partially correct. I was only partially correct. There are many courses available, but most seem to be geared towards a k...

THE HOPE JOURNEY XMAS EDITION: THE PROJECT THAT WAS

Image
Happy New Year to all of us!  In 2017, I decided not to get any new year resolutions, but accidentally I found a new dream with charity, I wanted to use my talent to impact on lives and God being so Good It became THE HOPE JOURNEY.  The hope Journey The Hope Journey, an online non-denominational evangelical christian group made up of young people with the aim of putting smiles on the faces of the less privileged in society by providing aid in the form of educational materials, Christian Literature and used clothing especially to children in the deprived communities as part of Christian missionary work. We started it with just whatsapp groups and facebook posts and we were able to raise over 4000 Ghana cedis with social media to buy school bag and supply for needy kids and spread the Gospel. The Hope July Started on my birthday, January 6 and we went to Asaase kokoo as our first destination on July 30th. We did an Xmas edition at Addo-Nkwanta on Boxing day. In all t...

A man on a Journey: How did you keep motivation alive within yourself on your journey to success?

Image
…And the dreams and values that King stood for that we  mustn’t  forget. How did you keep motivation alive within yourself on your journey to success? Someone asked me.  According to me to keep our motivation alive we need to find a very very strong reason for what we are doing that particular work ( you can ask yourself that for what reason you are doing that work ) because it works forever while other aspects like watching videos, etc are maintained for shorter time period. And I too really follow this method whenever I want myself to be get motivated for any work which needs hardwork. Motivation is a need based subject. If you are poor, you want to help family and the near and dear, you motivate yourself to achieve. You work hard to make money and create a niche for yourself. If you are rich, you may take it is easy to enjoy life. You may not have that degree of motivation to achieve. A motivation to you could be an achievement and to me there...

Christmas? meaning of Christmas

Image
feel like writing... Christmas? Is it the gifts under the tree, the lights in the windows, the cards in the mail/whatsapp messages, 'akokonam' dinners with family and friends, hamatharn, and shouts of "Merry Christmas" to those who pass us in the streets? Is this really Christmas? For many people, Christmas is a time of sorrow. They don't have the extra money to buy presents for their children, family, and friends. Many are saddened at Christmastime when they think of their loved ones who will not be able to come home for various reasons. Akoko nkwan dinners may be only a wish and not a reality for some. Yet, Christmas can be a season of great joy. It is a time of God showing His great love for us. It can be a time of healing and renewed strength. You see, Christmas is when we celebrate the birth of the Christ child. God sent His Son, Jesus, into the world to be born. His birth brought great joy to the world. Shepherds, wise men, and angels...

Have you heard? Various Artists - Hamilton:

Image
Alexander Hamilton founded the Federalist Party; he wrote over half of The Federalist Papers; he was a chief aide to George Washington during the Revolutionary War; he established a national bank; he had an extramarital affair; he was killed in a duel by Alexander Burr. That’s a rough history of Alexander Hamilton. Not a complete history by any means, but a few of the major points to be found in any history book worth its salt. Far too often, history is reduced to no more than mere words on a page, a simple recounting of events. But history is much more than that — it’s a narrative. And, as any good writer of fiction will tell you, narratives are driven by characters. Somewhat paradoxically, the more written about the great figures of history, the more mythic they’re made. They become figures, representations of nations, ideals, and attitudes of the times. But what is often forgotten about these figures is that they were, in fact, people. People with lives, expe...

NOTES FROM THE NSAWAM STREET: If You Don't Give Me an Affection for Others

Image
Psalm 49 Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world...  Last post of the "notes from the Nsawam street" series And it goes like this I recall all alone life and family and a portion of the most exceedingly awful times throughout my life and how I have survived and been honored by God. Genuine! it frequently hasn't been a luxurious situation, life has been hard and even brutal, awful and weepy but then here I am applauding God for even those horrendous times. Likely one of the hardest things to overcome is the demise of a kid or mate, most importantly a loved one – The nearest I have gone to that frightfulness is the passing of my Gradma. It had such a lamentable impact on my Mum and Dad and to the day they kicked the bucket they always remembered her and we as a whole grew up realizing that a catastrophe of gigantic extents had happened to our family. We were perusing only today in Psalm 49 of how demise finds everybody nobody i...

NOTES FROM THE NSAWAM STREET: SAVE US FROM THE NDC/NPP DUOPOLY

Image
You would need to be psychic or one fortunate player to anticipate that what began as an exhausting routine ride, creeping our way through Tema's morning surge hour movement, would deteriorate into an overflowing of torment, and smothered chuckling. On the radio, a Member of Parliament was announcing how he is so miserable for the fate of Ghana just in light of the fact that the "Muntie 3" were imprisoned, in the wake of accepting a command to go to parliament to serve the enthusiasm of his town/town. No one expected it when a carpenter, one column behind me everything except drizzled curses on the poor administrator's head. The man was shaking in fury as he continued to spread all government officials from the same manure can. He said he was through with governmental issues. Another fails miserably. It would appear the sheer totals being coasted effortlessly were turning his head in circles, and after coming to snapping point, made him retch out a surge of unpr...

NOTES FROM THE NSAWAM STREET: Forgotten Laws of Saving Money in Ghana

Image
FOURTH article of the series “NOTES FROM THE NSAWAM STREET”, paying tribute to my childhood hood and reflecting on the past and today we looking at savings , Reflecting upon this topic,Reminds me of an an awesome vacation period  somewhere last year, I asked  my Grandpa a simple question and the question was " How do I become rich ?" he smiled and said " I got to think about the important but forgotten laws of saving money. Because these are the same laws of saving that allowed us to save up for our wedding fund. These laws are actually common sense but seem to have been forgotten by most people – so they never get to save money. Once you know these principles, these laws of saving money, it will be very easy for YOU to save money as well and become rich", he smiled at me and gave me some old pamphlet to read and this is what I learnt from the pamphlet, I’m sure you’re getting excited, so lets get started: Law #1: Remember the Reason WHY ...

NOTES FROM THE NSAWAM STREET: The Four Wives of Man

Image
Third article of the series “NOTES FROM THE NSAWAM STREET”  I was having a chat with a great friend tonight ( time was around 23:20 at Mampong Akuapem) and I found our conversation greatly cool enough to be added to the  NOTES FROM THE NSAWAM STREET. Its figurative for the four pillars of every man.As narrated by friend below; "What about my fourth wife being family and friends. My third wealth and status  My second being my wisdom, knowledge and intellect. Then my 1st wife being my good deed.   All Man, every man has these four wives.  Friends and family we love and cherish, lavishing on them all the goodies we have. But in death, they shall desert us.  Our wealth and status, the most lovely of wives whom we always desire to show off. In our dressing, speech, manners and association with others we do not stop to flaunt her telling the world, how much we love her. Oh what a romantic man we become with her, constant show and public disp...

NOTES FROM THE NSAWAM STREET: DIVIDED PASSIONS

Image
Second article of the series “NOTES FROM THE NSAWAM STREET” this series of articles is about having flashbacks and using them positively, I remember we use to go to 7 times a week instead of the normal 5 times which is 5 days, my school was called “nsawam university”, I loved my school, Nana Osae Djan School was and is a good school by all standards we were going to school as if schooling was a cult and a religion we practiced just because my friends and I thought school was all, forgetting that school was not  education. Education is the process of facilitating learning and inspiring our minds not filling our heads and pouring it on exams sheets and not following our passion but certificates! This article is not about the system, I don’t have to write about it for us to know there is problem with our system, this article is   about passion, dividing it for your own good.  Yes, we can divide our passion “You have to be burning with an idea, or a problem, ...

Notes from the Nsawam Street: The Pain of Time

Image
Starting a new series called "Notes from the Nsawam Street", I have no reason, I think I just love my Childhood days in Nsawam. The experience was remarkable and great in a very rare form that science could not capture, I loved it and much more I stumbled into it I felt I should have a flashback on it anytime, since its impact is intangible. I have been spending a lot of time these days thinking about my past and future and how things have gone so far with me in life, and I realized sometimes we overlook some things and we end up struggling in life as a result. And one Prominent thing is TIME I read it somewhere that the only thing we have as young people right now in life is the time for us and I thought the person was kind of joking until I experienced it. This statement is true and we cannot overlook it. You can’t Cheat Time . God created the sun and the moon for us so that us entities on earth we can have time or else we would end up wasting our life on ea...
