WHY DO YOU WRITE THESE LETTERS? -State of Blogging in Ghana

Image
It was a normal night or was it evening,? listening to Kendrick Lamar's new album, Damn in the darkness of the nationwide Dumsor;  I saw  a message in my notification from an old friend, This old friend ask me why have you stopped? wondering  what she was talking about, I asked her and she replied the letters to yourself  =D I sent her my usual "lol" and here's is what I told her; Why I blog & What I think About Blogging in General  I love writing anything that comes in mind, I honestly write these letters to myself and I think this is just my style, there are other reasons. There are many personal reasons why people want to create a blog post whether it's telling a story, documenting their life or even to raise awareness for a cause that means something to them. The most common thing I hear from Bloggers is that they just wanted to share their views on whatever subject it is they Blog about. Blogging is a lot more personal than just posting a stat...

What is the most effective way to learn?

Image
An old teacher of mine told me a story that stuck with me the rest of my life: A pottery teacher split her class into two halves.  To the first half she said, "You will spend the semester studying pottery, planning, designing, and creating your perfect pot.  At the end of the semester, there will be a competition to see whose pot is the best". To the other half she said, "You will spend your semester making lots of pots.  Your grade will be based on the number of completed pots you finish.  At the end of the semester, you'll also have the opportunity to enter your best pot into a competition." The first half of the class threw themselves into their research, planning, and design.  Then they set about creating their one, perfect pot for the competition. The second half of the class immediately grabbed fistfulls of clay and started churning out pots.  They made big ones, small ones, simple ones, and intricate ones.  Their muscles ached for weeks as...

Who Was Muhammad Ali and What Can We Learn from Him

This is a late post and I made it late for a single reason, I wanted you to find my post and read it As a millennial, I  Honestly never met him or saw live videos about him but then I watched a few videos on him after I watched the Apple think different ad some years ago,  When a person refers to him or herself as “the greatest,” most people don’t react too well. http://uhuruspirit.org/images/muhammad-ali-08.jpg The Kanye Wests of the world come to mind  – people whose greatness (which is often debatable in itself) has only ever seemed to profit them. And that’s where Muhammad Ali differed from other cultural figures who insist upon letting everybody know how great they are. Yeah, he was a monster in the ring. But his greatness extended far beyond his physical prowess. He served as a United Nations Messenger of Peace.  In 1990, during the Gulf War, Ali even met with Saddam Hussein to negotiate the release of American hostages. Simply put, many a pu...

The Homeless Pastor

Image
A pastor transformed himself into a homeless person and went to the church that he was to be introduced as the head pastor at that morning. He walked around his soon to be church for 30 minutes while it was filling with people for service. Only 3 people said hello to him, most looked the other way. He asked people for change to buy food because he was hungry. Not one gave him anything. He went into the sanctuary to sit down in the front of the church and was tol d by the ushers that he would need to get up and go sit n the back of the church. He said hello to people as they walked in but was greeted with cold stares and dirty looks from people looking down on him and judging him. He sat in the back of the church and listened to the church announcements for the week. He listened as new visitors were welcomed into the church that morning but no one acknowledged that he was new. He watched people around him continue to look his way with stares that said you are not welcome...
